Dr Iorwuese Tyopev is a seasoned development practitioner, researcher, and consultant with over two decades of experience spanning agribusiness development, sustainable procurement management, climate finance, socio-economic research, and enterprise development. He is the Lead Consultant and Chief Executive Officer of Falvey Consulting Limited, a firm delivering high-impact advisory and business development services across Nigeria’s commercial, agribusiness and public sector landscape.
Through his leadership, Dr Tyopev has built a dynamic team of over 20 young professionals trained under leading development programmes, notably by GIZ and other international partners, positioning Falvey Consulting Limited as a market-oriented platform for sustaining development innovations and strengthening MSME ecosystems in Nigeria.
Dr Tyopev holds a Master of Science (M. Sc.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Economics, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sustainable Procurement Management, a Master of Business Administration (MBA), and an Advanced Certificate in Sustainable Environmental Standards. He is also an SMEDAN-certified Business Development Service Provider.
He is also a Lecturer/Training Facilitator in Procurement Management under the World Bank-supported Centre of Excellence, Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (SPESSE) Project at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
Since 2017, he has worked extensively as a consultant with leading development organisations, including the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), USAID Feed the Future Nigeria Agribusiness Activity, and Jobberman/Mastercard Young Africa Works Programme.
Dr Tyopev is currently engaged under the Propcom+ Programme (implemented by Palladium and funded by UK International Development) as a subcontractor supporting the International Climate Finance (ICF) Rural and Agricultural Market Development Programme (February–December 2026).
Dr Tyopev also serves as a member of the Benue State Technical Team on Climate Finance under the PACE / UK International Development State Readiness Assessment Programme, contributing to climate finance readiness diagnostics, institutional capacity assessment, development of bankable climate projects, and strengthening sub-national access to global climate finance.
Dr Tyopev has demonstrated a strong impact in strengthening MSME competitiveness across multiple Nigerian states, facilitating access to finance for agribusinesses and rural enterprises, enhancing the capacity of financial institutions in agricultural lending, promoting climate-smart and inclusive value chain financing, and supporting women and smallholder farmers through targeted interventions. His work has consistently focused on translating development interventions into sustainable, scalable business outcomes.
